One of the most common things to arise during pregnancy is anemia, otherwise known as iron deficiency. This occurs due to the fact that your body needs to have a higher level of iron in its blood to help with an increased need for oxygen transport. When there is not enough iron in the mother’s body there is a decreased ability to transport oxygen to the fetus. And since the fetus always gets the first pick of the available nutrition, this will leave the mother tired and drained, and probably more vulnerable to an illness.

The very first place to start in the battle against anemia is with your food choices. Understandably this can be difficult, as the mother-to-be has a heightened olfactory response during her pregnancy, as well as heightened taste buds.
