(UtopiaSilver.com) Aside from during pregnancy, I honestly never considered giving folic acid the time of day. I knew it was important for my baby’s growing body and brain, but aside from creating life, I never found much of a reason to consume more of it until just recently. As it turns out, pregnancy isn’t the only time you can reap the benefits of folic acid. Whether you are pregnant or not, or don’t even have a uterus at all-it’s something every person can benefit from.

1.) Energy Boost – Folic Acid, also known as vitamin B9, is one of the families of eight water-soluble B-complex vitamins. Like all the B vitamins, it plays a role in the metabolism of fats, carbohydrates and proteins into glucose that the body burns for energy. In combination with vitamin B12, folic acid has been shown to significantly boost energy levels in people suffering from fibromyalgia.
2.) Protects the Heart – Folic acid, along with vitamin B6, B12 and betaine, can lower the levels of homocysteine in the blood, thereby contributing to lowering cholesterol and the incidence of plaque in the arteries.
